I believe homeschooling your children is the best decision you can make for your family.

I am a Christian homeschool mum of 6. I have been homeschooling for the last 18 years. Currently, I have graduated 3 of my children and they are at university. The remaining three are still being homeschooled – so I’m halfway! The youngest is 5 and just embarking on her homeschooling journey so I’ve still many more years of homeschooling ahead.

I have homeschooled through many challenges – difficult pregnancies, serious illnesses and a husband who is amazingly supportive but works long hours. As a result, our homeschool has ebbs and flows, times and seasons.

I am a university qualified primary school teacher specialising in music, but I also have a strong opinion that having a teaching degree is not necessary for a successful homeschool.

I have run two homeschooling conferences and I also coordinate a homeschool co-op with over 80 children attending.

At the end of the day though, I ‘m just a mum trying to do the work that I feel God has called me to do. I make many mistakes and am always ready to change and adapt what I am doing to make my homeschool the best it can be for the stage of life I am in. My homeschool is not Pinterest-worthy.

I like to call myself ‘rustic’. You won’t find me staying up late at night preparing any Insta-worthy theme-based nature tables for my kiddos. But I will spend time adapting my lessons to suit my child’s interests and needs. Life is too short to spend time doing boring worksheets that have no connection to their real life.

On a personal note, I love family time, books, coffee and chocolate and if you were to ever bring me a gluten free lemon tart you would be my friend forever!
